Privacy policy
Luca Paws for iPhone and Apple Watch. Last updated October 3, 2026.
Short version: Luca Paws doesn't collect anything. Your data stays on your iPhone and your dog's Apple Watch. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no servers.
What the app stores, and where
Your dog's profile and photo, your contact details for the ID tag, motion recordings, labels, diary entries, care routines, vet records, documents and trip plans are saved only on your iPhone. Motion recorded on your dog's watch is sent straight to your iPhone over Apple's watch connection. Nothing is sent to me or anyone else.
Permissions
- Health (workouts): used only to start a workout session on the dog's watch so motion keeps recording in the background. The app reads no Health data and saves no workouts.
- Motion (watch): records your dog's movement to spot walking, rest, scratching and similar behavior.
- Camera: scans paper vet records and documents.
- Photos: you pick your dog's photo with Apple's photo picker, so the app only ever sees the one photo you choose, never your library. The background is removed on your iPhone and the photo is saved there, for the Today screen and the travel card.
- Location (while using): finds vet clinics near you through Apple Maps.
- Calendars: adds vet appointments to a calendar you choose and, if you turn it on, shows dog-related events already in your calendars.
- Notifications: local reminders scheduled on your iPhone.
You can turn any of these off in iOS Settings.
Sharing
Data leaves your phone only when you choose to share it, for example by exporting a CSV, sharing a document or showing the ID QR code. Vet searches go to Apple Maps under Apple's privacy policy.
Deleting your data
Delete the app from your iPhone and Apple Watch and everything it stored is removed.
Children
The app isn't directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.
